Custom Furniture Design - Multi-Functional Entryway Unit
Type
Custom Furniture Design
Date
October, 2025
Location
Buenos Aires, Argentina
This project consists of a fully custom-designed entryway unit for an apartment in Buenos Aires. The client needed to solve multiple functions within a single piece: shoe storage, hanging space for bags and coats, drawers for storage, and a seating surface, all within a tight space between two doors.
The main challenge was to design a piece that could accommodate all these functions while respecting the existing conditions of the space. Electrical boxes and outlets needed to remain fully accessible, without compromising the design’s aesthetics or functionality. Additionally, the unit had to integrate seamlessly with the existing living-dining furniture.
The design was developed by consolidating multiple references provided by the client into a single, cohesive and buildable solution. The piece is made of solid guatambú wood with a natural satin polyurethane finish, achieving a warm and timeless look.
The unit features drawers with integrated finger pulls for a clean, handle-free appearance, a framed structure that organizes the composition, and a lower shelf for shoe storage. From a technical standpoint, joinery was defined using glued dowels or mortise and tenon, while drawers were designed with dovetail joints or internal metal brackets to ensure durability and ease of fabrication.
A complete design package was delivered, including 3D modeling and detailed technical drawings, allowing the carpenter to build the piece with full clarity and precision.
The final result was built with high fidelity to the original design, confirming the effectiveness of the technical resolution and documentation.
